Privacy Policy for Nota

Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Nota ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our iOS application.

We have built Nota with a privacy-first architecture, meaning we only store what is absolutely necessary to make the app function, and we give you complete control over your cloud data and AI integrations.

1. Data Storage and Syncing

Nota uses a "Split-Brain" cloud architecture to ensure your data is fast, reliable, and secure.

• Text Data & Metadata: Your text notes, tags, and app preferences are synced securely using our backend database (powered by Google Firebase) to ensure they are instantly available across your devices. This data is linked to your secure account login.
• Audio Files: Your raw audio recordings (.m4a files) are never uploaded to our servers. They are saved directly to your personal Apple iCloud Drive. You have total ownership of these files, and they consume your personal Apple storage quota, not ours.

2. Voice Recording and Transcription

Nota requests access to your device's Microphone and Speech Recognition to capture your voice notes.

• We use Apple's native, on-device Speech Recognition API to transcribe your voice into text.
• Your audio is never sent to third-party servers by us for transcription purposes.

3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Processing

Nota offers intelligent text processing using Large Language Models (LLMs). Depending on how you use the app, data is routed differently:

• Nota AI (Default): If you use our built-in AI, your text prompts are sent securely to our backend servers to generate a response. We do not use your personal notes or prompts to train our AI models. * Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): If you unlock our Advanced features and provide your own API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini, those keys are stored securely on your local device. When you trigger the AI, your prompts are sent directly from your device to the respective provider. We do not intercept, store, or monitor these requests. By using BYOK, you are subject to the privacy policies of the respective API providers.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

We use Apple's native in-app purchase system and RevenueCat to manage subscriptions.

• We do not collect, process, or have access to your credit card or payment information.
• RevenueCat only receives an anonymous receipt from Apple to verify whether your "Nota Pro" status is active.

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We may collect anonymous, aggregated crash reports and minimal usage data (such as the number of AI requests made by free users) to enforce monthly limits and improve the app's stability. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

6. Data Deletion

You have the right to delete your data at any time. Deleting a note from within the Nota app will permanently remove the text from our Firebase database and delete the associated audio file from your personal iCloud Drive. If you wish to delete your entire account, please contact us.
